Sigma is about to drop an 85mm f/1.2 ART for Sony E-mount — a focal length and aperture combo that puts it in direct conversation with Sony's own 85mm f/1.4 GM and the Tamron 85mm f/1.8. Matt Granger got hands-on time before the September preorder window opens, which is worth a watch if you're in the market for a portrait workhorse. At f/1.2, Sigma is clearly gunning for shooters who want GM-level bokeh at what will likely be a more palatable price point — assuming they nail the autofocus on Sony bodies, this could be a genuine alternative worth waiting for.
